The English national team was able to defeat the Netherlands with the result of 2-1 with the last minute goal of Ollie Watkins and become the opponent of Spain in the final of the Euro 2024 tournament.

The second finalist of Euro 2024 was determined and Gareth Southgate's students managed to beat Netherlands with a 2-1 victory. In this game, the orange-clad team first took the lead from England with Xavi Simmons' rocket, but Harry Kane tied the game with a controversial penalty, and then Ollie Watkins scored the winning goal in the final moments of the game.

The whistle to start the game and after a few minutes, a shock to England. Xavi Simmons took a shot from a distance of 21 meters after moving among the English players, and his hard shot passed Jordan Pickford and stuck to the net of the English goal.

It was after this goal that England's attempts to score an equalizing goal began. Considering the attacking game of the Dutch, they had a lot of space to create opportunities, they appeared better than the previous games and came close to the opponent's goal in several half and half situations.

After several unsuccessful attempts, Harry Kane's volley in the penalty area went over the top of the goal, but the main point and controversy happened after the referee, Felix Zweier, due to the movement of Denzel Dumfries and a foul on Kane. At the same scene, he announced a penalty in favor of England, and the Bayern Munich striker was able to tie the game with his shot to the left.

Moments later, England could have scored a second goal, and Foden's excellent move set the stage for this, but his shot, which went past the keeper, was incredulously cleared off the line by Dumfries.

In the rest of the game, we didn't see another chance until the 29th minute when Dumfries's dangerous header hit the English goalpost on a corner pass.

The Three Lions answered this situation two minutes later with Foden's long-range shot that hit the upright of the goal.

A few seconds later, Memphis Depay felt uncomfortable in the middle of the field, and considering that he could not continue the game, Joey Verman entered the game in his place.

In the rest of the first half, the British were in possession of the ball and the field and created several half and half chances, but in the end, the two teams left the field with equal results.

The second half started with England's possession and their numerous passes all over the field, but the big difference was that both teams entered the field more cautiously, and this factor led to the second 45 minutes being less chances.

Despite Gareth Southgate's team having 60% possession, there was no shot at the opponent's goal and the game was less attractive.

The first opportunity of the game was in the 62nd minute when Phil Foden's shot went wide of the goal

Then again, the game continued with English possession and without creating any chances. In the 75th minute, Holland had a chance to score on a counterattack, but England's defenders showed up well and the chance was denied.

Five minutes later, Bukayo Saka scored the second goal with Walker's cutback pass, but the assistant referee's flag went up and the Three Lions' goal was declared offside, so the game remained 1-1.

Moments later, new-comer Cole Palmer had a great opportunity in the penalty area, but his shot went wide.

Then, while the game was expected to be extended to extra time, in the 90th minute, Palmer passed the ball to Watkins in the penalty area, and with a great turn, the striker was able to open the net for the Netherlands and give England the lead.

After this goal, the Netherlands pushed forward to avoid elimination and remain in the cup, but there was not much time left and Felix Zweier blew the final whistle for England to face Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
