Biden's "Best Choice to Lead Secret Service" Faces Congress Grilling Over Lapses in Trump Security

The assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump has put the US Secret Service at the center of questions. The agency is charged with safeguarding the president, vice president and other top US and foreign dignitaries. After Trump was shot in during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, House Speaker Mike Johnson called for a full investigation into the shooting. He also promised that Congress would hear testimony from Kimberly Cheatle. On July 14, House Homeland Security Chair Mark Green pressed Cheatle about the security shortcomings.
