CHURCH CONFRONTATION / Pastor Bob's Coffee Break

Dear Pastor Bob: All too often we complain and criticize our Churches when they teach something that is contrary to Scripture.  Not necessarily heresy, but things that are unbiblical in general. We are the Church - each and every one of us. I don’t quite understand why we avoid trying to correct a problem and, instead, leave a Church. Since we are the Church, I would think that it is our responsibility to make a genuine attempt to correct a Church when they fall into error. We should be able to approach the Church leadership about such things and find resolve. Nothing ever changes or gets better by keeping our mouths shut. In the Bible, we read of Paul correcting conflicts within the Churches. He didn't sidestep them. He didn’t shut down Churches or ask anyone to leave a Church over divisive issues. He sought after unity and resolve. Shouldn’t we follow Paul’s lead and lovingly correct the Church when it stumbles? After all, we are just as much the Church as the pastor or the church leadership. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Today's Scripture:
1 Timothy 6:3-5
