Originally aired Saturday, January 27, 2023.

The Vampire Chronicles (1976-2016) [Anne Rice]
"The theatrical rights to the Vampire Chronicles are once again in my hands, free and clear! I could not be more excited about this! --- A television series of the highest quality is now my dream for Lestat, Louis, Armand, Marius and the entire tribe. In this the new Golden Age of television, such a series is THE way to let the entire story of the vampires unfold. --- My son Christopher Rice and I will be developing a pilot script and a detailed outline for an open ended series, faithfully presenting Lestat’s story as it is told in the books, complete with the many situations that readers expect to see. We will likely begin with “The Vampire Lestat” and move on from there. ----- When we sit down finally to talk to producers, we will have a fully realized vision of this project with Christopher as the executive producer at the helm. I will also be an executive producer all the way. ---- Again, I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to be able to announce this. ---- As many of you know, Universal Studios and Imagine Entertainment had optioned the series to develop motion pictures from it, and though we had the pleasure of working with many fine people in connection with this plan, it did not work out. It is, more than ever, abundantly clear that television is where the vampires belong. ---- Over the years you all have told me how much you want to see a “Game of Thrones” style faithful rendering of this material, and how much you want for the series to remain in my control. Well, I have heard you. I have always heard you. What you want is what I want. --- You, the readers, made these books a success before any movie was ever made based on them, and I will never forget that fact. ---- Christopher and I will be posting many questions on the page for your input in the days to come. ----- I am filled with optimism this morning about the future for my beloved Brat Prince. What better way to start a tour for the new book!"

The Midnight Swim (2015) Movie Review [Nightmarish Conjurings]
THE MIDNIGHT SWIM is the debut feature film directed by Sarah Adina Smith. Smith also directed Buster’s Mal Heart which was a film that made a great impression on me. I have always heard that THE MIDNIGHT SWIM was another film that I had to see, and now I can say that I am happy that I did.

Racks and Razors [Official Website]
After almost 7 months, Derek Young and Greg Tiderington have a summer show for all of you on their newest podcast show with a review and an interview on an actor by having a somewhat promising career in independent horror flicks!!!!.
Sounds like sequels are in the works or are already coming out such as Slaughterhouse 2 in which Sherry Bendorf Leigh reprises her role as she wasn't dead like the ending of the 1987 flick suggested. It's written and directed by Rick Roessler who was behind the original but the story apparently is going to be in a different direction since Joe Barton who played Buddy died years ago. However Buddy's brother that was mentioned in the first flick is going to be in this one.
The next Saw sequel will be in cinemas this October 27th for all you trick or treaters as Tobin Bell returns as Jigsaw which is exciting to have another one to watch just as we wondered if the series came to an end.
Insidious: The Red Door is hitting theatre's this week as their films are great to watch. The plot is about the Lamberts going deeper into The Further than ever before to put their demons to rest once and for all.
The new Exorcist (No this definetely isn't a remake!!!) will be also be hitting theatre's nationwide during the Halloween season as Ellyn Burstyn reprises her role as Chris MacNeill but Linda Blair sadly doesn't return as her daughter.
It's great that horror sequels are back in action and remakes are fading out as it was getting very ridiculous!!!!!

Interview With David Friedman [Bad Movies]
The first "Blood Feast" was released in 1963 and it has been nearly twenty years since H.G. Lewis directed a film. What is the personal side of your working relationship? Friends or just associates who enjoy making the same type of films?
Although Herschell and I went our separate ways after "Color Me Blood Red" in 1964 we have remained close friends. (We had made eleven features together between 1959 and 1964.) We see each other often and correspond weekly.

5 Essential Italian Cannibal Movies [Attack from Planet B]
If you are looking for a subgenre of horror that emphasized graphic violence and shock value above all else, look no further than the Italian cannibal movies of the 1970s and 1980s. Evolving from Mondo cinema, Italian filmmakers like Umberto Lenzi and Ruggero Deodato would exploit xenophobic fears of exotic customs; their movies often depicting ‘civilized’ westerners running afoul of cannibalistic natives.
Whilst most cannibal movies focused on nothing more than provoking extreme disgust – often through rape, torture, and real animal cruelty – a few titles stand out due to their social commentary; it is often the westerners that are the first to perpetrate violence upon the natives due to their ‘uncivilized’, misunderstood culture.
Censors around the world felt a deep repugnance for the subgenre – four out of the five cannibal movies on this list were deemed ‘video nasties’ in the United Kingdom and effectively banned for almost two decades – which only made them more desirable.

twice the thrills – twice the chills [Awesomeness For Awesome’s Sake]
Hey Boners!
Guess what? You’re ol’ pal, Canacorn, has stumbled back into the blog-o-sphere (are the kids still calling it that these days?) for a quickie post about horror movies.
You see, my buddy, cole (no capital letters…this dude just won’t use them for some reason), over at vitagraph, american is doing this little thing called, twice the thrills! twice the chills!
I’ll let cole explain what it’s all about: “the concept is pretty basic – you have one theater for one halloween night. what double feature do you program and why? two films and your motivations for selecting them, otherwise no limits. i leave it to your unfettered imaginations.”
Sounds easy enough, right? Right! So let’s get to it!
Initially, I thought a David Cronenberg body horror double feature would be pretty sweet….

Hell Comes To Frogtown (1988) Movie Review [Bad Movie Realm]
The world has been decimated by nuclear war. 68% of all men were killed in the great war and the majority of the remaining population are sterile due to high levels of radiation. Adding to humanity’s problems, the newly-formed race of mutant frogmen spawned from the nuclear fallout have now begun kidnapping and enslaving fertile human females.

Mother’s Day Horror Movies [Buried]
Mother's Day is a few days away and let us celebrate the night of Mad Dog feuled bad decisions in the backseat of a '64 Rambler that made your existence possible by watching a few horror movies. Nine months later, you are born... a hairless and slimy creature. For most horror fans, not much has changed over the years. Let's face it, we are all animals... and Mothers have their instincts to protect their young. Our Mother's Day list does not consist of all straight horror flicks, but they seem to be themed around Mothers. So be nice to your Mom... she brought you into this world, and you never know when she might take you out.
