Trump a Modern Day Roman or Pharisee?

During the lifetime of Jesus Christ, there was a power struggle between the Romans and the Pharisees. The Romans and their paganistic beliefs and idolatry, not to mention hedonistic lifestyles, versus the ruling religious elite who were self-righteous and prideful. It was physical and spiritual oppression amongst the masses, denying true freedom in the name of power and control.

“Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed You over to me. What have You done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world; if it were, My servants would fight to prevent My arrest by the Jews. But now My kingdom is not of this realm.” “Then You are a king!” Pilate said. “You say that I am a king,” Jesus answered. “For this reason I was born and have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to My voice.” John 18:35-37

The same power dynamic exists today. Today people are so focused on protecting rights and liberties that they hold dear IN THIS WORLD, that they forsake their first love, and that is with God through Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

People look to Donald Trump as a savior sent to protect those freedoms, and the god of this world is using that love of this world to yoke well intended believers into slavery with the mindset of a Pharisee.

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world.…”
1 John 2:15-16

“This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind, who makes the flesh his strength and turns his heart from the LORD.” Jeremiah 17:5

When forced to choose between two equally bad options, what do we do? What would Jesus do? We discuss…
