EPGOP Chair Gonzalez on Trump Assassination

Fellow Republicans and citizens of El Paso,

Today, there was an attempt on the life of our candidate, our leader, and potentially our next President of the United States, at a rally in WALTER, Pennsylvania. While full details about the shooter have not yet been released, it is evident that this attack was an effort to silence the voice of freedom represented by our candidate, Donald Trump.

The rhetoric of division propagated by President Biden and his administration has not only condoned violence, thievery, illegality, and chaos across our nation but has also falsely portrayed Donald Trump as a threat to our democracy. This narrative is knowingly untrue and is merely a tactic to garner undeserved votes.

Considering the numerous attacks on Trump, we do not wish to speculate that this is another attempt by the Biden administration to stifle their opposition. However, the timing is suspicious, especially given Biden’s lagging poll numbers prior to this incident.

We urge everyone to refrain from making judgments without all the facts and to lower the temperature of political discourse. We call on the Biden administration to hold accountable those in the media who falsely depict Trump as a villain.

We extend our prayers to those injured at the rally, to the deceased, and to their grieving families. The United States should not be a nation of terror. Civilians should not be caught in the crossfire of political battles.

We are all Americans, and we must put America first, abide by the law, and maintain civility with our fellow citizens.

Good night, and God bless America.
