This is an interpretation of the verse in Isayah 9:6 by Bro. Rick who submits this verse is referring to King Hezekyah and not the Messyah.

Jewish commentators (e.g., Rashi, A. E. Kimchi, Abravanel, Malbim, Luzzatto, and others), and even with certain Christian commentators (such as Grotius, Gesenius, etc.), say that the prophecy refers to Hezekiah.

These refences show where Jews say it is Hezekiah in the Talmud: (n) T. Bab. Sanhedrin, fol. 98. 2. & 99. 1. Jarchi, Aben Ezra, Kimchi, & Abarbinel, in loc. Nizzachon Vet. p. 87. R. Isaac. Chizzuk Emuna, par. 1. c. 21. p. 195. Lipman. Carmen. p. 115.

Gesenius, a christian, is a MAJOR contributor to studies. He taught it was Hezekiah.

Grotius (never heard of him), but the comments say he also was Christian and taught it was Hezekiah.

It is NOT a good passage to attempt to prove ANYTHING regarding this being the Messiah, and there are various translations and VERSIONS of it. Significantly, the wording in the Septuagint is TOTALLY different.
