Historical Africa

South Africa's support for Palestine is rooted in its own history of struggle against apartheid. During the fight against the apartheid regime, South Africans received support from various international communities, including Palestinians.

This historical solidarity has forged a bond between the two peoples, both of whom have experienced oppression and occupation.

"From a moral and ethical standpoint, South Africa views the Palestinian cause as a struggle for human rights and justice. Prominent South African leaders, such as Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu, have vocally supported Palestinian rights, drawing parallels between the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the apartheid system they fought against."

"South Africa's government has consistently advocated for Palestinian self-determination on international platforms. The country’s official policy supports a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine coexisting peacefully within secure and recognized borders.

South Africa has called for an end to the Israeli occupation, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, and the respect for international law and human rights.
