Thomas Matthew Crooks, age 20, was the individual behind the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a rally. Here’s what we know about him:

Background: Crooks, a 20-year-old man from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, fired multiple shots at Trump during the rally. A bullet grazed Trump’s upper right ear, leaving him bloodied but not seriously injured. Secret Service agents swiftly responded, shooting and killing Crooks. One rally attendee was killed, and two others were critically injured.

Education: Thomas Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School two years ago and was included in a 2022 local news article about recipients of a National Math & Science Initiative Star Award at the public high school.

Shooting Details: Crooks positioned himself on a rooftop over 100 yards from the rally site, armed with an AR-style rifle. Law enforcement is investigating various suspicious occurrences related to the shooting.
