Derek's impressive career spans an active-duty tour with the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a paramedic and instructor at Wilford Hall Medical Center, earning numerous awards. He continued his service as a combat medic with the Army National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division, receiving commendations including the Army Achievement Medal.

Transitioning to civilian life, Derek worked as a paramedic in New York before co-founding a boutique commercial video production company in Oakland, California. He has produced and edited numerous videos, collaborating with professional athletes, musicians, and CEOs. Additionally, Derek has served as an EMT program director, teaching life-saving skills to hundreds.

Derek's photography has been featured extensively in EMS World magazine, including center spreads and covers, capturing frontline scenes from the COVID-19 pandemic. With a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Health Science from UT Health San Antonio and an Associate of Arts degree in Social and Behavioral Science from Berkeley City College, Derek's multifaceted expertise and experiences offer a riveting glimpse into his remarkable journey.
