What Do You Do For A Living - A Good Answer To This Question

How many times do you get asked the question: What Do You Do For A Living?

And how many times have you struggled with a great answer? In today's video I'll be talking about the one thing you must do in order to confidently answer this question once and for all.

I was about to speak at an event, and the coordinator introduced me as an entrepreneur, and I had this déjà vu, back to when I first started in business…

Because back then, I went to a lot of personal development seminars. Most personal development seminars, at least the ones I’ve been to, have this one thing in common (0:55).

At those seminars, people would always introduce themselves to me and they’d tell me they’re an “I’m An Entrepreneur”…usually on their way to becoming a millionaire or a billionaire. 🙄

I built this AVERSION to the word entrepreneur, because I didn’t want to be clumped into that type of person who seemed to be ‘talking… more than taking action’.

But as I had more and more successes in life, I met more people who were at the next level… in BUSINESS, and with their FINANCES, and their PERSONAL LIFE. And more and more of them would classify themselves as entrepreneurs.

So what I found was that there’s a lot of different definitions of what an entrepreneur is. And my definition of an entrepreneur needed to change.

What is your definition of an entrepreneur? Is it good – or bad – is it a strong word to you – or maybe it’s not so strong…

Now, back when I was going to personal development seminars, the definition that formed in my mind, was ANYBODY who had a "business" (2:05).

But that’s not the true definition of an entrepreneur.

My NEW definition of an entrepreneur, which has driven me significantly more to not just grow a successful business, but to grow multiple highly successful businesses in multiple industries, and to invest into companies driven by other great entrepreneurs.

And in order for that to happen, my definition had to change from just being somebody who had a business idea, to Somebody Growing A Successful, Profitable Business.

And that new definition took me to the next chapter of my life where I was able to grow a portfolio of companies.

However, it also drained me (3:00)…

About five years ago I changed my definition slightly more, and that simple change improved my results, and it improve the speed at which I could scale companies from 0 to mid-8 figures, and it gave me a lot more time in my life to spend with those I love, and to pursue a lot of my personal goals as well.

And the change was simple…

…I went to now a much stronger definition of Somebody Growing A Successful, Highly Profitable Business That’s Fun To Run. (3:53)

Every business, and every business deal that I’m part of now, I try to make fun.

Which means the growth of that company needs to also be linked, in some way, to my personal values… and as the company grows it needs to help me unlock some of my personal goals as well.

So, it becomes highly motivating for me to grow each company I’m part of, because the growth is directly related to giving me amazing vacations with my family, or living where I wanna live, or enjoying the lifestyle that we want to enjoy, or taking the adventures we want to take.

WHAT’S YOUR DEFINITION OF AN ENTREPRENEUR NOW?

Write it in the comments. Because just the act of writing it, will help you clarify it, and see how to make it stronger for you…

It’s strange to think that How We Define Ourselves, Has Such A Massive Impact On The Results We Get In Life. However, this is a pivot point for most of the best entrepreneurs, and CEOs, and business owners that I know. (4:50)

So, take a moment right now and really consider what WORD you define yourself as, or what WORD other people use to introduce you.

Is it entrepreneur, or business owner, or CEO, or something else… and then WRITE DOWN what the first few words are the come to your mind when you hear that title. (5:19)

And if those first few words are not empowering and motivating, and driving to you - if they don’t make you wanna grind it out, and hustle more - then re-create that definition, and I promise you, the few minutes you put into this exercise will re-create your destiny.

And if you got something BIG out of that exercise, then please share this video with someone you know, and subscribe because the next few videos are going to be TACTICS that every high growth entrepreneur needs to know about.
