‘The Situation Is So Fluid’: Gillian Turner on Biden’s Campaign

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
ROBERTS: “So, Gillian, if that is true, why did Jen O’Malley Dillon send a note to congressional Democrats yesterday saying oh, this is — the polls are not affected at all. It’s a tight race in a toss-up, they suggest that Donald Trump is running away with this?”
TURNER: “Because I think if this situation is so fluid that we like to say that in the news and it’s an annoying phrase, but it’s really true, by the hour I was thinking before we came on the set that 48 hours ago, there were nine Democrats calling on Biden to bow out of the race, most of them nobody had ever heard of them before, no offense. Now, 48 hours later, there are 19, you have had the Hollywood dam break in a very dramatic fashion spearheaded by George Clooney. Apparently, the Obama camp has turned against Biden, the mega-donor class has really spooked, and all of it for the Democrats self-inflicted where you now have this crazy situation where a couple of dozen lawmakers may yet go push Biden out over and above the heads of the 14 million Americans who just primaried for Biden. And this being the party that is running on a platform of we can’t have Trump because he’s a threat to democracy.”
