We love our Chemex pour over coffee maker because it's completely non-toxic and made of glass. The filters are oxygen bleached so there's no risk of dioxin residue!
See our step-by-step instructions on how to brew coffee in a Chemex! It's how we've made coffee every morning for the past 5 years.
Reason #4 to ditch your drip coffee maker
Most coffee filters are chlorine bleached.
The chlorine bleach process releases dioxins which are highly toxic chemicals.
Some of this residue is left on the coffee filters.
They say the level of dioxins found in the filters is is low enough to be “safe” but we prefer to avoid all dioxins.
We use a Chemex with oxygen bleached filters instead!
