Joe Biden Divides Democrats

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi just appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe and asserted that “time is running short for” President Joe Biden to decide if he wants to run again. However, Biden has been adamant that he is not stepping down, so Pelosi is clearly gaslighting the President.
Pelosi isn’t the only big name on the Left calling for Biden to step down. Hollywood is also turning on the President, evidenced by George Clooney’s op-ed in the New York Times today. Don’t forget that Clooney saw firsthand Biden’s frailty at the giant Hollywood fundraiser a few weeks ago that led to accusations of “cheap fakes” from the White House.
In the op-ed, the actor recounted his interaction with Biden at the fundraiser: “It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe . . . Biden of 2010. . . . He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”
Clooney also criticized Democrat Party leaders for not being truthful about Biden’s physical and mental state: “Party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people didn’t see what we just saw [at the CNN presidential debate].” Clooney is a huge donor and fundraiser for the Democrat Party, so to see him abandon his nominee is a big deal.
Far-left elites like Pelosi and Clooney all see the poll numbers. They know that if Biden stays in the race, it could be a landslide victory for President Trump. So they are trying to get Biden out to salvage what’s left of the presidential race.
Or perhaps they also don’t want to be blamed for Biden’s loss. They don’t want to go down with the sinking ship.
Right now, Biden isn’t campaigning to the American people. He’s campaigning to elites like Pelosi and Clooney within the Democrat Party, who should be supporting him no matter what. It’s fascinating to watch.
Much of the media is also floating out the possibility of Congress using the 25th Amendment to remove President Biden and elevate Vice President Kamala Harris to the presidency. Even Speaker of the House Mike Johnson admitted the House could entertain the idea of invoking the 25th Amendment due to the optics of Biden’s debate performance and subsequent public appearances.
However, invoking the 25th Amendment would be a disaster for the country because it would trivialize the 25th Amendment – which should only be used in the worst-case scenario – much like impeachments have been trivialized. We don’t need to create a future where Congress is empowered to remove Presidents they don’t like.
At the end of the day, if the DNC decides it doesn’t want Biden to be the nominee, party leaders will devise a plan to remove the President. I just hope they find a different avenue other than watering down the 25th Amendment. This is Washington, D.C., we’re talking about – the infamous swamp. There has to be another way.
