Validate Me

They tell me seeing is believing
But what if I don’t believe in what I see?
They say my words can move mountains
And yet they somehow fail to move me

Seems like I talk out of turn
Even when it’s my turn to speak
As I again chase down my confidence
In a never-ending game of hide and seek

I’ve got these wings, don’t know how to fly
When I reach the clouds I fall from the sky
Then rewind it time and again in my mind
It’s exhausting being me

So who’s going to validate me?
Who’s going to validate me?
The cracks in the mirror spread like fire before me
So who’s going to validate me?
I’m still waiting to see
I’m still waiting to see

When the angels wear their halos
I often mistake them for horns
And when the demons bring me roses
I blissfully ignore all the thorns

I know the Bible, forgot how to pray
And I’m sure God’s tired of what I’ve got to say
His prodigal son has once again strayed
It’s exhausting being me

So who’s going to validate me?
Who’s going to validate me?
Eaten alive by my insecurities
So who’s going to validate me?
I’m still waiting to see

I can lead a thousand soldiers
To wrestle nations from the Devil’s claws
But I run away like a renegade
When I come face to face with my flaws

They say to win know thy enemy
But I’m stabbed by blades from my own armory
I guess the villain has always been me
It’s exhausting being me

So who’s going to validate me?
Who’s going to validate me?
I’m bleeding out for the whole world to see
So who’s going to validate me?
It can only be me
It can only be me
It can only be me
