Hunting the Ground Critter w/Shining Eyes That Flies

Not all animal eyes reflect light. I never memorized a list but these eye shines are much bigger than the wolf spiders and sometimes clearly a pair. Reflex says one of the cats ... except the cats never go down that far and sure don't FLY UP AND AWAY.

A biologist (unsure of title; not a hack) noted this was a rare area of PALLID BATS in concentration. Odd ones I never heard of because of their unique habit of hunting ON THE GROUND. Mostly for scorpions, I hear. That's a new one. Where's that growing list of Notes To Self?

Access road now is an overgrown wagon track tunnel of high flanking alfalfa. No foul. Some big jumpscares seeing what can suddenly appear out of the jungle. Or fleeing into ... like a rattlesnake with a huge rattle I swear was the size of my fist.
