Spectrum services are down statewide

Spectrum services, cable, Internet, etc. are down state wide in Texas. I have family members who work for spectrum and they tell me that they were told not to come into work. I also have family members who work for generations credit Union and they were told not to come into work because of the Internet outage. This is major but why is it happening?
