Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was a Serbian-American engineer and physicist who made dozens of breakthroughs in the production, transmission and application of electric power. He is best known for inventing and patenting the rotating magnetic field, as well as inventing the first alternating current (AC) motor and developing AC generation and transmission technology. As a boy he was often sick, but he was a bright student with a photographic memory and wild imagination.
