An Iranian warship, the Sahand destroyer, capsized during port repairs in Bandar Abbas near the Strait of Hormuz, killing two officers and injuring several others, according to state media.

The official news agency IRNA reported that the vessel lost balance due to water ingress while undergoing repairs but is being stabilized.

The Sahand, equipped with advanced weaponry and radar capabilities, launched in December 2018 after six years of construction.

This incident follows other recent misfortunes for the Iranian Navy, including the sinking of the Damavand destroyer in 2018 and the Kharg in 2021, The Telegraph has reported.
