A village in the Voronezh region of western Russia was evacuated on Sunday after debris from a downed Ukrainian drone caused explosions by setting fire to a nearby warehouse, according to local officials.

Social media footage showed black smoke rising and loud explosions.

Governor Aleksandr Gusev confirmed that the falling wreckage triggered the detonation of explosive objects, leading to the evacuation of residents in a nearby village in the Podgorensky district and road closures.

A Ukrainian security official told The Associated Press that the strike targeted a warehouse in Serhiivka storing ammunition, including missiles, tank shells, and firearm cartridges, used by Russian forces in Ukraine.

The official, speaking anonymously, also claimed Ukraine’s State Security Service was responsible for a drone attack on an oil depot in Russia’s Krasnodar region the previous day, ABC News has reported.
