James also speaks to the believers in humble circumstances, urging them to take pride in their high position in Christ. Not arrogance, but confidence and thankfulness. But the rich should take pride in their low position, as their wealth will fade away. He compares the rich man to a wildflower that withers under the scorching heat.
In CH 1, James compared the absurdity of hearing the Word, then ignoring it, to a man looking at his face in a mirror and then immediately forgetting what he looks like.In CH 2, James urge his readers not to show favoritism or partiality. As a specific example, he refers to rich people that might come to Christian gatherings and they are treated special because of the wealth.
