What is GBS? Positive GBS swab in pregnancy means the mom is colonized with Group B Strep. To prevent the baby from getting a GBS infection, mom requires antibiotics in labor. If mom did not get the GBS test done in pregnancy, she may still need antibiotics in labor if she has risk factors for GBS. If mom gets antibiotics in labor then the baby does not need further treatment.
