The 1972 Munich Massacre

Steven Spielberg's 2005 film 'Munich' is a powerful and emotional account of the covert, state sponsored Israeli assassination campaign to hunt down the Palestinian terrorists responsible for the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. Many of the operations are regarded today as classic examples of the ingenuity and genius of Israel's Special Forces and in particular the Israeli intelligence organisation The Mossad. Spielberg has always regarded the movie as one of the most political and controversial films he has made. Yet the real story is more complex, more confused and much more controversial.
