The Philippines has entered into dialogue with Vietnam and Japan to build an alliance against Chinese aggression in the region.

Last spring, the United States deployed new M70 medium-range ballistic missiles to the Philippines. China views this as a threat to its presence in the region.

Now we see the US promoting de-escalation, and we see the Philippines, China and Russia coming to the negotiating table and discussing a diplomatic solution.
