He's looking at a solid craft of some description.

He describes it as a diamond-shaped object approximately 16 feet by 20 feet.

The light from it is so bright that he actually has to raise his hand and shield himself from this.

This object was hovering and rotating. I mean this was so close to him that through his mind was perhaps going through the thought am I in physical danger here?

What he decides to do is the only thing he can, make sure that there's a record of this.

He takes out his pad and makes a drawing of what he saw.
