The saying SEEING is BELIEVING may have come from Thomas not being there when the risen Jesus appeared to the disciples so he is nicknamed Doubting Thomas.

The phrase “seeing is believing” has been used for centuries to express the idea that people are more likely to believe something if they can see it with their own eyes.
