Acts - Chapter 26 Summary:

Acts chapter 26 recounts Paul’s defense before King Agrippa. Paul begins by expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to present his case to Agrippa, who is well-versed in Jewish customs. He recounts his early life, strict adherence to Pharisaic traditions, and zealous persecution of Christians. Paul then describes his dramatic conversion experience on the road to Damascus, where Jesus appeared to him and commissioned him to preach to the Gentiles. He emphasizes his obedience to this heavenly vision, preaching repentance and turning to God. Paul asserts that his message is in line with the teachings of the prophets and Moses, foretelling the suffering of the Messiah and His resurrection. Festus interrupts, accusing Paul of being insane, but Paul insists he is speaking the truth. Agrippa acknowledges Paul’s persuasive speech, but Paul responds, wishing all listeners could share his faith except for his chains. The chapter concludes with Agrippa, Festus, and others agreeing that Paul has done nothing deserving death or imprisonment, and Agrippa noting that Paul could have been released if he had not appealed to Caesar.
