Acts - Chapter 25 Summary:

Acts chapter 25 describes Paul's continued legal troubles and his appeal to Caesar. After Festus takes over as governor, the Jewish leaders request that Paul be transferred to Jerusalem, planning to ambush and kill him. Festus declines, inviting them to Caesarea to present their charges. At the hearing, the Jews bring serious but unprovable accusations against Paul. In his defense, Paul asserts his innocence regarding any offense against Jewish law, the temple, or Caesar. Seeking favor with the Jews, Festus asks Paul if he is willing to go to Jerusalem for trial. Paul, knowing the danger, exercises his right as a Roman citizen to appeal to Caesar. Festus agrees, saying, "You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you will go!" Later, King Agrippa and his sister Bernice visit Festus. Festus discusses Paul's case with Agrippa, who expresses interest in hearing from Paul. The chapter concludes with Festus arranging a hearing for Paul before Agrippa.
