In 1971, a group of Black intellectuals conducted a study on the US television programme, ‘Black Journal’ (@amblackjournal on Twitter) on how institutional racism has affected Black people. However, more than 50 years later, the system continues to ensure our people’s oppression because that would only work against its creators’ intentions.

In this clip from the discussion, the Reverend Albert Cleage, Jr (1911-2000) of the Shrine of the Black Madonna Church (@shrinehistory on Twitter) in Detroit explained how white norms constructed sociology and psychology. He relayed that unlearning the norms will take much decoding.
