A Boy and His Dog (1975) is based on a novella by Harlen Ellison. It is set during 2024 in an alternative, post-apocalyptic world in which JFK was not assassinated. The is the opposite alternate history to For All Mankind because the Space Race is skipped with advancements on robots and animal intelligence taking precedence. As a result, the ensuing Cold War is more violent. A nuclear war nearly takes out civilization, and that is how we find a boy, Vic, and His telepathic Dog, Blood.
