To YOU my FRIEND

>>>

To my good friend
I must confess

I hadn't really
felt much stress

From demonstrating recklessly
my deepest vulnerability

The one thing that kept me a fool
The cause of why I left high school

The reason I felt I'd always failed
No matter just how hard I'd flailed

I felt a judgement, mostly veiled
But it impaled
and then curtailed
self worth, so I never exhaled

And took a breath
'cos fear of death
Left me bereft
Of life taken by a great theft

Not of this vessel I inhabit
This wondrous mass of flesh and blood
But this feeling that I had it
Feeling always truly loved

This is just what I want to say
I thank you for watching me play
In a new way
I will portray
This more, but know that I'm OK :)

And whilst it's new for all to see
Showing this new capacity
Rising in me
to become free
From believing love comes not from me

Because my friend
You would agree
For the world to become free
It must start with you and me
broken free of self pity
So all of our great family
Can see how they can also be

So thank you friend for you connection
reaching out with great affection
To discuss my introspection
And my sudden insurrection

Against my fears of sharing that
within my heart a habitat
of love and power that combats
feeling I've failed, no caveat

For this I know
the more I show
Of who I am, my life will glow
And something tells me doing so
Adds to the flow
Of where we dream this world to go

With this I'll end
my dearest friend
On a promise, I do contend
That I Intend
please comprehend
That I will not again pretend

To compromise this joy that is
free from an unworthiness
A freedom that truly is bliss

This gift I give to every son
A feeling of not being undone
But stong and meek
So they all seek
A life where they defend the weak.

As poet warriors of old
The call to action can be told
From man to man for all to see
There is deep strength in poetry
In being free, for all to see
The truth of how we want to be.

To be the man
We know we can.
Be what truly sets us all free.
