A short audio clip has sparked a social media debate about whether the word is ‘Yanny’ or ‘Laurel’ is being pronounced by a vibrant male voice. How people hear it differently is similar to how people viewed a dress on the Internet three years ago. Amazing, right?!

You have probably heard about the tending debate sweeping the Internet. The Yanny or Laurel debate is taking over social media at the speed of light. A video recording is played on repeat several times, and users are supposed to pick a guess on what they hear the male voice say: Yanny or Laurel?

This TV host is merely confused as she says she is hearing both of them at the same time. How is that even possible? ‘Between the earpiece and the station audio, I am hearing two different things in my ear at the same time’, she adds.

Linguistics says its normal because the way the soundwaves go in your ear and vibrate, it is going to change the way you hear it, but it has been taking over social media. Right now Laurel is trending, this morning it was the other way around. People are going back and forth and continue tweeting about it on and on, going crazy about what is happening!

How is it possible for different people to be hearing different things at the same time? This audio dilemma reminds us of the visual dilemma with the dress, which people saw it in different colors.

However, at the end of the day, these are the things that bond us all together, across the world we are all talking about this one sound. We all heard it two different ways, and it is a massive waste of time, but yet very intriguing indeed.
