Batman (English: Batman) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comics published by DC Comics. It is also the title of comics, films, dramas, and animated works.

Overview
Created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, Batman made his first appearance in "Detective Comics #27" published in May 1939 by National Allied Publications (later known as DC Comics).

Due to contractual issues, only Kane was initially credited and compensated as the creator. However, in September 2015, DC Entertainment announced that Finger would receive recognition and compensation as a co-creator of Batman. Negotiations between Finger's family and DC led to him being credited as a creator for the first time in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and the second season of "Gotham." Batman comics were then labeled as "Created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger."
