Scott Ritter & Danny Haiphong: Russia is DESTROYING Ukraine's Army and NATO Won't Survive Putin's Next Move (6-30-2024)

To better understand the incredible revival of Russia since that time, Scott goes back to discuss the rampant corruption & the oligarchs that were getting very rich and thought that no one could touch them. When Putin became President in 1999, he was faced with this terrible mess and realized that he would need to tolerate corruption while working to save Russia. This was a delicate balance, since he never won by overwhelming margins until 2024. Putin had been warning NATO & the West for many years that having Ukraine join NATO was a RED line that shouldn't be contemplated, yet the West kept ignoring him. Finally, in February 2022, the decision was made to start the Special Military Operation (SMO) in Ukraine to hopefully wake the West up, but the West was still blind. What the West did next was an incredible gift to Russia. They sanctioned many of the oligarchs & took things away from them. As you will see in this discussion, Putin had been trying for many years to neutralize the oligarchs and the West just handed him a gift. The sanctions were another gift, including not being able to use the SWIFT system for $dollar transactions. The money that had been invested outside of Russia had to be invested inside. Since purchasing many needed products from the West had been cut off, Russia quickly built factories to create those needed products. Keep in mind that the Russian economy grew by 3.6% in 2023 with all of the sanctions, the SMO & the West trying everything that they could think of to stop Russia.

The Russian people are very patriotic and strongly support their military, especially under times or war. They remember the incredible sacrifices needed to save the USSR during WW2 and now look at this SMO battle in Ukraine as an existential threat from the entire West & NATO that has been trying to break them up since shortly after WW2.
