Part 2 Sustainable Ranching with Michelle Roberts of Roberts Ranch Hoophouses a Business Member of The People Restored Community.

• Four Beehive Boxes in one - taught by Dr. Shanon Brookes for more detail.
• Beans and beets will help put nitrogen back into the ground.
• Durum wheat from the Egyptian pyramids.
• Shows: Herbs, beans, berries, compost system.
• Shows their North High Tunnel Greenhouse. Grow year-round in.
Venting the tunnel lets spinach, kale, chard, leeks, beets, and carrots grow through the winter.
• Conduits to help protect through the winter.

Dates to pay attention to:
• End of September and beginning of October: Do a big planting that we can eat clear through December.
• End of October: another planting.
• On winter solstice, December 21: Everything goes into dormancy and waits for us to pick it. It won’t continue to grow; it just waits for us to eat it through the winter. It acts as a natural refrigerator.
• Sun back on Groundhog Day: All the covers come off and the water goes back on.
• 3rd week in February: We start harvesting.

• Anti-condensation plastic from “Sun Master” is important through 6-8 years for $600-$800. You don’t need a shade cover in the summer. Plants grow 1.5x faster in the greenhouse.
• Great airflow and ventilation.
• White flies: Use strawberry leaf water.

As a community we are focused on growing and producing food for our families. This Series is a part of our TPR Gardening Initiative to be more self-reliant in providing for our loved ones.
