The Picker - Spoken Word Poetry

This time I picked a bigger lover
I picked a pretty flower someone’s daughter
Someone’s heir

My first true love
Her mother really like me
But her father was aware

That I picked another partner
Picked her in checkout line
And asked her for her snap

Then went back to my first love
Picked pieces and put them back

Please don’t think I picked her over you
I picked to be alone But she was there when I collapsed

But I missed you and I knew your heart could be sewn
So I’m picking all the pieces and making sure you’re intact

I’m picking to sound stupid
Because I picked a mistake
Now I'm picking to leave again
Because I picked some ego on the way

Im picking to come back
So you better pick to leave
But I know you don’t know how to
So I’m free to pick what I fiend

Listen you need to leave
Because if I can’t pick my own dopamine
I’ll bend through the morals of love

Love has two parts
The spiritual and the animalistic
And it seems like my love has devolved
To lower level that’s insufficient

Never made a choices
Never studied the options
Just picking easy ways to fill my mind to make it blank

Picking blank is best way to get away
Picking ways to hide the shame
Of Picking pleasure every time I get the chance

If this was a children's book
then I would pick bigger plans
But this is reality I’m picking
what I can grasp in my hand
