Only One Side

Every month that has a 5th Sunday, the Tallahassee First Church of the Nazarene (https://tfcn.org/), provides laypeople the opportunity to share a song, poem, or anything else the Lord lays on their heart. On June 30, 2024 I decided to share an essay that I have been writing for many months.

I have often said the Church is very good at "reaching" people, but we are not so good at "teaching" people. We're hyper-focused on getting people in the door with the promise that Jesus Christ will redeem them from sin, but we fail to identify what "sin" is. We recognize that evil has infected all aspects of society, but we don't want to talk about it in church because we have swallowed the lie that ANY discussion of evil is "intolerant" and "political," and therefore has no place in the church.

I highly recommend the book and film titled "Letter to the American Church" (https://rumble.com/user/LettertotheAmericanChurch). Eric Metaxas describes the indisputable parallel between the weak, timid churches of today with those who stood by in the 1930s while the Nazi propagandists successfully attacked and dehumanized an entire segment of their population. Unless we want to stay on the receiving end of censorship and persecution, Christians need to stand up NOW and get involved.
