Supreme Court Delivers Devastating Blow to Jack Smith's J6 Case Against Trump

The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Joseph Fischer, a former police officer involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

In a stunning 6-3 decision, the justices concluded that the law under which Fischer was charged was intended for evidence tampering, not the broad application claimed by prosecutors.

This is a big deal because the ruling sets a precedent that could benefit many other Jan. 6 defendants. With 247 cases potentially affected, the narrowed interpretation of the law could lead to reduced charges or even dismissals.

This also means Jack Smith's J6 case against Trump is toast.

Legal analyst Jonathan Turley says that it is hard to see how Jack Smith’s indictment against Trump holds up after the Supreme Court overturned the obstruction charge.
