Legacy SAAF Kenny van Straaten - Flight Engineer & Air Gunner - Episode 1

We speak to WO1 Kenny van Straaten, a flight engineer that served in 19 Squadron, South African Air Force. He tells us about his career (1966 to 2002) which was exciting, to say the least. His combat tours included flying in Rhodesia, then again seconded to the Rhodesian Air Force, then seconded to the Portuguese Air Force fighting against UNITA and of course for SAAF in numerous operations including rescue ones including the Helderberg tragedy. This is a fascinating story of the technical aspects of the Air Force as well as of the fighting, sharp, end. There might be a second episode soon.
