Heirloom Pepper Seed Saving

Saving heirloom pepper seeds. Peppers are self fertile like tomatoes

Use these small translucent party favor bags with a draw string.

Choose a bloom early in the season that is easy to get to and has not opened yet.

Remove any leaves that are on the bloom stem.

Carefully put the bag over the bloom and as far down on the stem as you can.

Carefully pull the draw string snug but not too tight.

Once the pepper starts to grow, remove the bag and mark the branch with a string that is easy to see.

Let the pepper mature on the plant.

Carefully remove the pepper and the seeds. Leave the seeds out on a piece of paper or cardboard to dry. Once the seed is dry enough to break store in a paper envelope and label.
