An interesting if not very grim story of some cataclysmic event which has a handful of survivors hiding in lead caves and waits for the radioactive count to drop. The female lead of the story is Effie who dreams of a world which no longer exists and is tortured by the memories, occasionally endangering the life of herself and her husband. A stranger arrives who tells her of the mutated children who populate the outside landscape.
