Curious Cat Freaks Out When Roomba Turns On

As the phrase goes, “Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.” Well, we are just focusing on the first half of that phrase today. We don’t think satisfaction is going to bring this cat back from wherever he streaked off to go hide. The best part is that this cat’s owner told him that he should not sit in front of the robot vacuum because he is going to get run into. Does this cat listen? Of course not, he is a cat. They never listen.

The cat in the video, who is adorably named Simba, checks out the robot vacuum he just sits in front of it and stares at it. With no clue as to what is going through this cat’s brain, we have no idea what his expectations of the vacuum cleaner are or were. He just sits and stares. Maybe he has seen the vacuum move about on its own before and doesn’t understand why it is not moving currently. His wait does not last long though.

At some point, possibly on a schedule (hence the owner’s warning), the robot vacuum cleaner turns itself on and gets prepared to start cleaning. However, the cat was not expecting this at all apparently. He jumps back in surprise and takes off so fast that we almost missed where he went the first time we watched the video. But if you pay attention Simba streaks across the tile floor and straight upstairs. We are certain that the cat is now hiding under a bed and won’t come out until he hears that the vacuum cleaner is turned off. And even then, maybe not.
