Will Antuanne Russell🥊Boots Ennis Ever Meet Again!?

Jeron Boots Ennis, 31 win with 28 coming by way of knockout. Gary Atnwaun Russell,17 wins, 17 knockouts. These active pros had multiple bouts as amateurs. Their final bout took place in December of 2015. This would be their fourth encounter during Olympic trials, where Gary Antuanne Russell won for the third time in four meetings with Jaron “Boots” Ennis. Russell went on to compete in twelve more amateur fights, winning nine of them. This included three victories at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was ultimately defeated in the quarter-finals by Uzbekistan’s Fazliddin “Fayzi” Gaibnazarov, who won via split decision. Gaibnazarov, now a professional boxer with a record of 9 and 1, took three split decision victories, starting with his bout against Russell. Prior to this, Russell competed at the Sarhadci Olympic Center in Baku, where he won four matches before losing to Richardson Hitchins of New York by walk-over.

Russell had previously defeated Hitchins twice, including in the 2015 National Golden Gloves quarter-finals, eventually winning the championship. Russell also claimed the 2014 National Golden Gloves title. In the Olympic trials, Ennis won their first match but lost the next two. While Russell continued his amateur career, Ennis turned professional in April 2016, achieving an 8 and oh record with five wins in Philadelphia by the end of the year. Ennis moved up to welterweight, while Russell remained at super lightweight.
