In this video, we will discuss Importer Security Filing (ISF) timelines and deadlines, which are crucial for importers to ensure compliance and avoid penalties. ISF is a requirement imposed by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to provide advance shipment information. The ISF must be submitted at least 24 hours before the cargo is loaded onto the vessel. For shipments that will reach the US within 24 hours, the ISF must be filed "as early as possible." The ISF filing deadlines are 48 hours before the vessel is laden for regular sea vessels and 24 hours before the cargo is received for transport for NVOCCs or consolidators. Late or inaccurate ISF filings can result in penalties, including liquidated damages claims up to $5,000 per violation. Working with a customs broker can help ensure compliant and accurate ISF filings. It is essential to correct any inaccuracies or omissions promptly, either by amending the ISF filing or providing missing information before the cargo arrives.
