Israel steps up attacks on residential areas of central, northern Gaza

The Israeli military has launched an operation east of Gaza City.

It's ordered people to leave the Shujayea neighbourhood.

Earlier, Israeli forces targeted the area, killing at least eight Palestinians.

Families are fleeing the area as the bombardment intensifies. At least 40 people are injured. Homes were damaged in the attack, with crews rescuing people from the rubble of destroyed buildings. Others are still missing.
