Airbus A320 pilot in his late thirties dies mid-flight | Hassan Youssef Adas

JUN 17, 2024. A Sky Vision Airlines flight from Cairo to Taif, Saudi Arabia, took a somber turn when the pilot, Captain Hassan Youssef Adas, passed away unexpectedly during the journey. With Captain Adas’ passing, the co-pilot diverted the aircraft to the nearest airport, King Abdulaziz, in Jeddah for a safe landing.

At 1210Z, [name redacted] called back and stated the pilot had regained consciousness and returned to the cockpit. They were unaware in what capacity the captain was performing his duties, only that he returned to the cockpit. UAL1309 Landed RWY without incident at 1219Z and taxiied [sic] to gate A20 without delay. Paramedics were standing by.”

During that conversation I learned of another pilot who died suddenly during the taxi sequence on a different flight.
