Paid Leave for Aboriginal People Only

In the name of being “inclusive” and “equitable”, universities are now offering Aboriginal employees up to 25 days special cultural leave. Clearly, this is neither “equitable” nor “inclusive”, as those employees who are not Aboriginal are not entitled to this leave. Similarly, some universities are offering $8,944 per year to First Nations employees who are contributing cultural knowledge and perspectives, or $3,000 Language Allowances. If you’re not Aboriginal, forget it! Not to mention their attack on Australia Day by allowing staff to work on the public holiday as “a show of respect for First Nations people”. This is an attack on Australia’s values. First it’s Australia Day, then it will be Christmas, and then Easter. Not to mention 20 days’ paid gender affirmation leave per year to certain employees only. If you’re a bloke and identify as a bloke, no leave for you! Universities claim to be ethical, but many of their policies say otherwise. Only people of certain ethnicities and gender identities are entitled to these advantages. This is not equity. This is wrong!
