Pundits are calling it the most spectacular collapse on a soccer field since the last time Manchester United played.

This soccer field in Alton, Illinois catastrophically collapsed after a giant sinkhole opened up, swallowing an entire floodlight and taking a chunk out of several of the facility’s playing fields. The $1 million soccer field at Gordon Moore City Park was built on top of several disused mines, however they were thought to be perfectly stable.

Fortunately, nobody was on the field at the time of the collapse, and it is expected that the field can be rebuilt, bringing joy to the literally three people in the US interested in soccer
