Michael Phelps urges 'lifetime ban' for athletes caught doping

Michael Phelps called for a lifetime ban on athletes caught doping because he does not want children growing up 'thinking that it's only doping and cheating' that will result in success. The 23-time Olympic gold-winning swimmer made the comments during testimony before a House of Representatives subcommittee, following revelations that 23 Chinese swimmers had tested positive for a banned heart medication ahead of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 but were allowed by the World Anti-Doping Agency to compete. Five of those swimmers went on to win medals, including three golds.
