Judaism and Gaza
Abridged video of an interview by Greenwald with two Rabbis.
These Rabbis amongst other things present the argument that Jewish secularism has been exploited by a non-Jewish religion. Essentially they argue that the religioius belief in a human endevour to create the nation of Israel is being used as a substitute for the Jewish law, for Jewish identity, and trust in God. Which makes Zionism in their view corrupt.
Greenwald makes the point that the existence of Israel as a safe haven for Jewish people seems a rational objective from a purely non-religious viewpoint.
However, from a religious point of view, safety is from God. Even common sense would suggest that living in Israel isn't necessarily "safe". The existence of the state of Israel, and Jewishness are separate questions. One does not exclude the other.
A secular reaction to danger is to fight or weaken those who disagree with your views. We see this not only with Israel, but also with US global foreign policy.
As the Rabbi pointed out, taking this direction results in 'blowback'. The EU globalists, have a similar unethical position. In their view anyone opposed to their secular humanist ideals is evil, and should be imprisoned. Not a tolerant view, not liberal, but arguably religious. EU globalists are therefore also hypocrytes with tyrannical tendency.
The Rabbis are heading somewhat in the correct direction. Evidently God has not forgotten them.
"Rom 10:20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
Rom 10:21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
Has the government of Israel forgotten Egypt, and forgotten Auschwitz?
Rom 2:23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
Rom 2:24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
Rom 2:25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Exod 22:21 ¶Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
